Cutty Sark Community Painting Project
Alloway Tunnel Project Group Painting
The team preparing the mural for the Alloway Tunnel Project had an open painting session over several days at the Cutty Sark Centre in Ayr last week and artists were invited to go along and help. We had a great painting session with many others all co-ordinated by Chris Rutherford and our own Bill McKinlay who are putting in many hours on the project.
Claire Dorris is with Jinty Maxwell, Robin Anderson and Linda Roser
I recently had the pleasure of Attending Alloway Tunnel Project ‘community workshop’ at Ayr’s Cutty Sark Centre alongside fellow artists from Troon Art Club, Ayr Art Circle and Queen Margaret Academy.
This incredible initiative ‘The Alloway Railway Tunnel Project’ is transforming the previously dilapidated tunnel with stunning artwork into one of Scotland’s largest murals designed by top UK murals artist Chris Rutherford.
Chris’ hand painted artwork is truly breathtaking, and the massive interpretations of Burns’ poems are nothing short of magical. Well done for encouraging various local school groups and community groups to join in the magic and create supporting murals in your workshops.
A huge shoutout to the Alloway Tunnel Project Team who have worked tirelessly to secure funding and co-ordinate this massive undertaking. Your dedication will leave a lasting impact and I can’t wait to see the community enjoy it for years to come.
If you’ve not been to the Alloway Tunnel there’s lots to see so walk down there to visit it at Murdoch’s Loan, Alloway Tunnel Ayr KA8 4NH.
